day three (and two)

Sorry in advance for the length of the post!!
! A lot has happened recently. (:
I cannot believe today is my third day here - I feel as though I've been here forever (in a good way)! Yesterday morning we went on a tour of Roseau. After getting our money exchanged to E.C. (Eastern Caribbean, it looks so cool), we had the town to roam. The local market is by far my favorite spot - mangoes, bananas, and avocados are everywhere in sight. Later in the afternoon, my roommate Olivia and our friend Kasper walked to the local botanical garden. We hiked up a small mountain to get a breathtaking view of the city. The cruise ships who stop daily in town looked like toy boats, and the houses were colorful blocks on the ground. For dinner, we wound up at the island's only Pizza Hut since most restaurants close early: American food on a tropical island, I am such a tourist! Today Olivia left for home, please keep her family in your prayers. I look forward to keeping in touch with her, she was an awesome roommate, even just for two days.
We had our first classes this morning: I am so excited to learn more about this island! After class, a local girl who lives in the hotel visited with the UD girls. We painted each other's toenails and listened to Rihanna; she is so full of joy. We left for Mero Beach in early afternoon and enjoyed (well, maybe not enjoyed) a 30 minute bus ride in a van not meant for 16 people. I have never been to a more beautiful beach! Black volcanic sand, coconut palm trees, and warm, blue water - it was awesome. My minor sunburn has already faded, shame on SPF 50 for letting me down. Tonight as a group we enjoyed a local restaurant called the Old Stone: mahi mahi salad and a coconut daiquiri, getting fancy! My friend Kristen moved into my room today, now we're just hanging out and watching TLC. Love you all!
